Lake Shore Gold, Toronto stock exchange symbol LSG, is a gold producer in Ontario Canada in the prolific Timmins Gold Camp.

Lake Shore Gold also has two separate discovery areas in the Timmins Gold Camp. The 144 discovery it is exploring solely, and the Whitney gold project it is exploring in a joint venture with Toronto listed Goldcorp, Toronto stock exchange symbol G. The Whitney gold discovery is between two historic gold producers, the Dome Mine which started production in early 1900's and established the town of Timmins, the mine was an open pit mine to 340 metres (1000 feet +) depth then an underground mining operation to a depth of 1,700 metres producing 18.0+ million ounces of gold. The other nearby mine is the Bell Creek Mine Complex which was discovered in 1980's and started production in the late 1980's.

The Whitney gold project has over 50,000 feet of drilling planned in 2016, and initial results have returned a new near surface gold bearing horizon between two producing mines. The shallow depth zone was missed in previous work and it may be a horizontal laid gold system rather than the other mines vertical gold systems. The mining company joint venture partners report the shallow depth new gold discovery is open to the west and north and to depth along the dip of the body.

Durango resources, TSX symbol DGO, OTC symbol ATOXF, is evaluating projects in the area.
